Music

Where flavors meet the rhythms of Africa

At Ciwara, music is not just an accompaniment: it is an integral part of the experience. The notes of African traditions intertwine with the flavors of our cuisine, creating a unique atmosphere that envelops the senses and welcomes people into a space of conviviality and culture.

Musical roots

Doudou, Ciwara’s founder and soul, has brought with him not only the recipes of his land, but also the rhythms and songs that animate life in Senegal and Mali. Music here is a universal language, capable of breaking down barriers and building bridges between different cultures.

Every week, the restaurant is transformed into a living stage, where the sounds of African percussion meet contemporary melodies. Our jam sessions are a time to share, improvise and celebrate the beauty of diversity.

Events and jam sessions

Ciwara is the place where music and conviviality meet.

Spontaneous jam sessions: local, international and first-time musicians come together in unique performances enhanced by the rhythms of traditional percussion.

Thematic evenings: we explore African musical genres and traditions, from Senegalese mbalax to Malian dudumba to new trends in afrobeat, amapiano, afrohouse and other genres loved by young people.

Live concerts

Live concerts: A regular date with the Doudou group, with pieces written by Doudou who, in addition to vocals, interprets the songs on guitar, peul flute, and djembé, accompanied by Federico on bass, Desirè on ciun, and Latina on congas. Other evenings throughout the year are devoted to Sicilian and international groups promoting African culture.

My Africa Festival: Conceived on the occasion of Ciwara’s birthday, it is spread over several days close to Dec. 15, our birthday. It provides for a series of events, performances, meetings and viewings but, more than anything else, they are special days of celebration and joy to celebrate together with Ciwara’s historical friends and with all the new fans of our history.

Dance and involvement

Not only music: often the notes are transformed into dance steps. Guests are invited to get involved in the rhythm, creating a dynamic and joyful atmosphere that makes each evening unforgettable.

Ciwara’s music is not only to be heard, but experienced. Each dish served matches the sounds that fill the room, creating a dialogue between flavors and rhythms. Whether it is the deep beat of a drum or the delicacy of a melody, the music becomes part of the journey.
